The Fraunhofer Institute for Energy Economics and Energy System Technology (IEE), together with the H2Global Foundation and Strathmore University in Kenya, has published the Kenya PtX Atlas. The interactive map shows, for the first time, the techno-economic potential for the production of green ammonia in Kenya.

Utility Global and ArcelorMittal are launching a pilot project for hydrogen production from blast furnace gas at the Juiz de Fora site in Brazil. The H2Gen system will be used, which is designed to produce high-purity hydrogen and CO2 without electricity.

The project developer Enertrag has secured a site in Prenzlau, where an electrolysis plant with a grid connection capacity of 130 megawatts is to be built. The plant is part of the IPCEI project Hy2Infra and is expected to deliver up to 12,500 tonnes of green hydrogen per year.

Green hydrogen is an important building block of the energy transition. With its help, regenerative energy can be stored and used as needed in a wide variety of sectors. But how will the generation, storage, distribution and use of hydrogen come together? An answer to this question is the goal of the project H₂VL of the regional district (Landkreis) Havelland: Various local players along the entire hydrogen value chain are being identified, networked and supported in the implementation of their projects – from production through distribution to use. For this, Havelland is being supported by the German transport ministry, through the hydrogen and fuel cell innovation support program NIP2, with nearly 400,000 euros as one of the 15 winners of the title HyExpert Region.

Ballard Power Systems is supplying 32 fuel cell modules with a total output of 6.4 megawatts to eCap Marine. The modules are intended to power two zero-emission container ships operated by Samskip, which will run between Norway and the Netherlands.
