A freeze-drying technique reduces the estimated production costs from around 19 to just over 5 US dollars per gram.

The hydrogen vehicle JCB Hydromax set a world speed record for hydrogen-powered land vehicles at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah. It achieved an average speed of 653.9 km/h. Components for hydrogen distribution were supplied by the German company P+P.
