HES International and the Canadian energy company North Atlantic aim to jointly establish an import route for hydrogen via the port of Wilhelmshaven. The basis will be LOHC technology. Both companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Berlin.

Manufacturer Sunfire unveiled its new alkaline electrolysis system HyLink Alkaline 23 at the World Hydrogen Summit 2026 in Rotterdam. According to the company, the 50 MW system is designed for large-scale projects and the next phase of industrial market ramp-up.

The Renewable Energies Hamburg Cluster Agency (EEHH) has launched a digital hydrogen marketplace for the metropolitan region. The free platform aims to connect producers, consumers, and service providers along the hydrogen value chain.

The hydrogen ramp-up in Germany is not failing due to a lack of interest from companies. On the contrary, regulatory, economic, and infrastructural risks, also at the EU level, are hindering investments along the value chain. This is shown by a study from BDEW and Capgemini.

For the planned hydrogen pipeline Hybor, the scoping process has begun in the Federal States of Saxony-Anhalt, Saxony, and Thuringia. Liquid hydrogen derivatives like methanol can be transported via pipeline up to ten times cheaper in terms of energy content than gaseous hydrogen.
