According to a representative survey, more than two-thirds of Germans (69%) see green hydrogen as the energy source of the future. The main reasons are lower dependence on imports (56%), better climate protection (51%) and greater security of energy supply (40%).
Almost every other respondent (48%) is convinced that green hydrogen is necessary for the conversion to a CO2-free industry. In the industrial sector, 61% of decision-makers and as much as 81% of executives from the energy sector are counting on a green hydrogen supply in the future. Accordingly, three-quarters of the German population (74%) and of decision-makers from industry (75%) are calling for greater EU legislative support for green hydrogen – particularly SPD party voters (close to 90%).
Especially SPD voters have great confidence in the sustainably produced gas (83%). Out of the CDU/CSU party voters, this was reported to be around 75%, and among the parties the Linke and AfD, respectively, it was only half. These were the results of the survey from opinion research institute Civey that was commissioned by Thyssenkrupp Nucera.
