DZM starts operation

Almost exactly one month before the federal election, Federal Minister of Transport Andreas Scheuer gave the go-ahead for the establishment first of the office and then of the German Centre for Future Mobility (DZM) he is planning in Munich. The kick-off event for this took place on 23 August 2021 in the presence of the Bavarian Minister President Dr Markus Söder and Dieter Reiter, the Lord Mayor of the City of Munich. (more…)

A study called ShipFuel has analyzed how technically and economically feasible it is to use fuel cell systems running on electricity-derived fuels aboard inland waterway vessels by comparing them with conventional diesel engines used for ship propulsion.

The study, commissioned by the German transportation ministry, was coordinated by NOW under the auspices of the German NIP program.

Hardly anyone had expected such a rush. 300 participants were expected. But then 600 registered, and finally 700 came to the stakeholder conference for the National Hydrogen Strategy on 5 November 2019 in Berlin. However, the great interest is not really surprising, as a total of four federal ministries sent out invitations.

At the beginning of July 2019, the HyStarter tender was decided. Nine regions have been awarded the contract and will receive support for their entry into hydrogen and fuel cell technology as part of the HyLands overarching funding project. In the future, their concepts will also serve as a blueprint to inspire other regions.

The Managing Director of the National Organisation for Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology GmbH, Dr. Klaus Bonhoff, will leave NOW and will in future be head of the Policy Department at the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI).

The Managing Director of the National Organisation for Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology GmbH, Dr. Klaus Bonhoff, will leave NOW and will in future be head of the Policy Department at the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI). He will thus occupy a central position within the ministry and, according to Minister of Transport Andreas Scheuer, will focus in particular on the “mobility of the future”.
