At the European level, Baden-Württemberg and its agency e-mobil BW had applied for EU funding for the Hydrogen Valley, but came in second behind Groningen. Now one hopes for the award for HyPerformer (see p. 22), it was said afterwards.

At the beginning of July 2019, the HyStarter tender was decided. Nine regions have been awarded the contract and will receive support for their entry into hydrogen and fuel cell technology as part of the HyLands overarching funding project. In the future, their concepts will also serve as a blueprint to inspire other regions.

In many communities, electric buses have been the latest innovation to grab the attention of passengers and mayors alike. While passengers are just thrilled about the quiet and smooth ride, mass transit companies are looking for businesses that can deliver these types of vehicles, especially fuel cell ones, as quickly as possible. However, few options are for sale, despite a boost in demand.

Analytical tools can be used to process and sift through this data to gain valuable information, for example, about the competitive environment. Racing around the track in small-size H2 cars might look like fun, but it has a serious purpose. An event like this is designed to impart crucial engineering know-how, prompt design ideas, solve technical issues, encourage improvisation and, most of all, promote deep immersion in a new technology.
